Harlow Playhouse Panto

Well, we are truly feeling festive as we approach the end of this week, following our BIG trip to Harlow Playhouse on Tuesday to watch Sleeping Beauty, this year’s pantomime. As you can imagine, attempting to transport approximately 350 children across the town on a Tuesday afternoon is not an easy task to undertake! However, our wonderful staff team rose to the challenge and delivered a fabulous day to our Year 7 & 8 students. The weather held out for the most part, apart from a brief downpour as we waited to enter the theatre and the sun even came out to join us for a while, which was lovely.
Once we were all in the (exclusively booked) auditorium, pupils settled in and enjoyed the show. There were plenty of boos, hisses and ‘he’s behind you’ shout outs and it was lovely to be able to sit and watch an entire theatre of children have a fabulous afternoon. Year 8 students in particular, were able to identify traditional pantomime features as this trip dovetails with their classroom learning in drama at the moment.
Huge thanks go to Harlow Playhouse staff for their excellent support in managing the afternoon alongside us and helping everyone get in and out unscathed! The cast delivered an excellent show and from this teacher’s point of view, the moment that our school audience gasped in wonder at the show was absolutely worth the logistical nightmare of getting them there!
We hope you enjoy the remainder of the festive countdown and the naughty elves aren’t annoying you too much!
Have a fabulous Christmas, we’ll be back with more news and events in the new year.
