Improving upon our best

Leadership Opportunities

There are hundreds of ways to impress and make a name for yourself at Passmores and our best piece of advice is “get involved and have a go.”  We have extra-curricular events to join in related to every subject, from joining a sports team and representing the school to performing in one of our school shows or musical performances. You could write for our school newsletter or send rockets into the sky in science club.  You could design our own games in Computer Science or chill out with board games in the Access Centre.  And if we haven’t got a club for your interests – then establish one.

We run regular competitions at school, linked to every subject, so you can bag points for your house or win yourself prizes.  We have many opportunities to represent the school proudly, from supporting at open evenings to helping out with Friends of Passmores events.  In June each year we run a Community Day, where Passmores students get out and about in Harlow and help with any number of social projects, ensuring the good name of our students in the local area.

If you have leadership aspirations then you could join our Student Pedagogy Leaders Team, a programme that has been strongly praised by Cambridge University, who invited us to share it with delegates at their recent conference (presented by students)!  Or you could join our Student Cooperative Council and help determine how the school works.

Students who impress in lower school will get the chance to become a prefect and specialise in a particular area of support for the school (charity, community, curriculum, environment, rewards), or even seek to join our governing body as Head Boy or Head Girl.

Passmores is a cooperative school and an inclusive one.  We will support you to improve upon your best.  Not everyone can win, and failure can be the best teacher of all, but in time, all can excel with the right attitude.
